Tangrams are still available at five cents a pop (for donations)

This is how you donate (the following was confirmed by the dev sw33t_sneak):

More info here in this article.
A) Make/use a bitcoin wallet using a client that lets you sign messages (electrum for instance), B) Send contributions to the bitcoin address available in this post by GetSneak: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3022248.msg47561662#msg47561662 (The address is 3C6DSAJiLdYWpLLzJQgb12RJi45yjeQkXP but check that so that you don't get scammed!) (The one I linked to is signed and from GetSneak.) C) take note of the transaction ID you get (don't worry, you can find it later too). D) Choose "sign message" in your wallet client. E) In the message to sign, enter
  1. the date
  2. your e-mail address,
  3. your nickname and ID (depends upon platform. If you use discord it would be your discord name and discord ID. To get Discord ID, turn on developer mode in Discord settings, left click yourself and choose copy ID – it would be a number like 255543746611335588). I think they would also take Reddit ID or bitcointalk.org ID. Telegram? who knows!
  4. The platform where you use that nickname (discord, reddit, bitcointalk.org)
F) Sign the message so you get a signature string, and verify it if you want. G) Send an e-mail to the contributions address [email protected]. Include:
  1. The transaction hash for your donation.
  2. The BTC address you sent from.
  3. the complete message you signed earlier (the previous 4 items) with the signature you got after signing. This proves you own the BTC address that sent the funds.
H) Then later you'll get a confirmation back from the devs.

Your email should look something like this:
3C6DSAJiLdYWpLLzJQgb12RJi45yjeQkXP [bitcoin address you sent from] 6459058709bce81d07510d3bdf783a9a9daa03312fab0a32585aa69d5797b1ec [the hash] -----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE----- 4th November 2018 [email protected] [YOUR email] sweet_sneak (408611836972498955) Discord -----BEGIN SIGNATURE----- IEmeyAWdzJcB560qVsNjbBMAPmaQQNamoP4U+4HRTy63Nav9QqhyGF7rAVYaDReDPUDrF2rxuaPm/tZT4OcaJc0= -----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

How I lost 95 Bitcoin

I bought my first few Bitcoins in 2012; eventually I got around 100 and managed to hold most of them until this point. Yesterday they were stolen from me. Shortly after I made a transaction, I left my PC with Electrum open, I believe there was a key logger waiting for me to type my password as when I returned an hour later, I saw my account had been emptied.
This happened shortly after receiving my hardware wallet (ledger), which I never got round to filling up. Obviously storing £350k(that hurts to type) on my daily computer was a moronic thing to do.
See the transaction here: 220caec53bac39cc1a2d2692eecd385bca796fc1a839254ddd622b911344ae97
The Bitcoins were then split and are currently residing at these two addresses: r18JCmLzKQoZydXspc6CPwovWVwYtUT7DCx
18ZnbD5JQwdEJRwKrb34nXPu7J6pHN1CMR
16YiXuw4eaFVvpyhX7mYufwsj77LHrydUx
I know I wont get these Bitcoins back but if anyone knows of a blockchain or malware analysis service or just want to give me advice, I would appreciate it.

Need a 0.4 BTC loan. To pay in 12 months 3% straight interest - hedged at exchange rate at time of loan

https://www.reddit.com/povertyfinance/comments/co3xbd/need_some_advice_on_getting_out_of_a_debt_cycle/

Hello,
I'm seeking a loan of 0.4 BTC to pay off my debts. My story is in the link. I'm looking for a loan that will encompass everything and will allow me to pay only one lender instead of multiple lenders at once. To lessen the risk to the lender, I decided to apply straight interest and also hedge the loan amount based on the current BTC-USD exchange rate. This means that if the BTC-USD rate falls, I will still pay as if I'm paying the installment at the original exchange rate (principal+interest+hedge) If the rate is higher than original, I will pay the installment without the hedge.
As for collateral, I'm afraid I have none. I will not be loaning in the first place if I had the money for collateral. The best thing about bitcoin is that every transaction can be independently verified. Every payment I make can be verified by anyone.

For the first time ever, I’m worried about the Bitcoin fundamentals.

I’ve been into Bitcoin since early 2011 as a miner, enthusiast and a developer in the industry. I’ve seen all the booms and busts, but I’ve always been able to keep my eyes on the fundamentals, and seen them getting stronger year after year. However, what’s happening now with the Bitcoin Classic’s hard fork proposal, is making me doubt the whole value proposition of Bitcoin. It has absolutely nothing to do with the content of the proposal (having 2MB blocks would be just fine IMO), and everything to do with the fact that it’s seemingly possible to gain industry support for a hard fork, which triggers when only 75% of the miners support it.
If this kind of a fork goes through, requiring only a 75% miner majority for a hard fork becomes a thing, and the next time it may not be something as easy to swallow as a small block size increase. In my mind, it would change Bitcoin from something permanent, unchangeable, almost a force of nature, to yet another system, whose properties are up for a majority vote, whenever someone isn’t happy about some aspect of it. Requiring a near unanimous miner support (at least 95%) for a hard fork now, will set a precedent that will protect YOU, when someone with a strong political campaign tries to hard fork Bitcoin into something YOU don’t like. And as Bitcoin gains more and more mainstream acceptance, there’s guaranteed to be more and more people crying to change this or that, with an argument that sounds sensible to your run-of-the-mill CEO. Who’s going to protect your interests then?
It all depends on miners and users ability to recognise the dangers of a contested hard fork, now and forever. If I’m unsure about now, how can I be sure about the future?
There has to be a lot of people in a similar situation as I am. People who bought into Bitcoin very early on with this idea of “digital gold” (naive or not), who have been sitting at the sidelines, happily holding on to their coins through all the bubbles, and who are now being slowly disillusioned about the whole thing. I know for myself, that if there’s even a hint of a possibility of a contested hard fork happening, I’m not going to be the one left holding the bag.
And for whatever it's worth:

.onion addresses are the only way you should use Tor. They create an SSL tunnel between you and the server.

Sign A Transaction - Prove Ownership

Welcome to this short tutorial/guide. Here I will show you two things:
  1. How to sign a transaction in order to prove that you owned that address and that you in fact paid that transaction.
  2. And to verify a transaction in order to check that the person claiming to have made the payment to you did in fact do so and is not just claiming someone else's transaction on the blockchain.
If you're coming here wanting to know how to claim your DigiRank you'll have to do the first part to prove ownership.

How Does This Work?

The blockchain is a magical place and many amazing beautiful things can be done here. Sometimes this seems like magic but it's not here I'll briefly explain the mechanics and then how to do it.
You probably know more or less how a UTXO works. You possess a private key to which are associated public keys. So when you send out a transaction you are just signing an authorisation, this allows the coins to leave your wallet and go on to the new public key. This is visible publicly on the chain.
But how do we claim ownership? How do you prove that you put out that transaction? Well it's simple yet somewhat difficult to understand.
What you have to do, is to sign your transaction. This is done in the following way, and most wallets have this feature. You select a public address which you want to claim, then enter a message into your app.
The wallet will take your message and hash it in SHA256 (example) which is then signed with the corresponding private key - this outputs a signature. It looks like a long string of numbers and letters. The output looks something like this:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE----- xeno_biologist -----BEGIN SIGNATURE----- DAoFAi4ejjkC1zz1jdxe1Dgz7kXozzSEMj H3a+r8R4FoCjHaeNVqXaZ7xrNFr+fIiniHAc+Fl6JUjQHbeAmBb3MiufgvfndsLqnIl5tggiImqs/U4NAffb5I= -----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Note that I've modified my signature and public key for privacy reasons and will not work if you attempt to verify. The first part is the message, the second the public key/address and the last is the signature.
So how is this verified then? How do you check ownership and how does it work?
Well think about it this way. When you sign a transaction it's as if you're creating a password locked zip file. This 'file' can only be opened with the corresponding message - in this case my user name: xeno_biologist. Instead of the 'file' you have a transaction public key and instead of a password a hashed message is used and you've given the password - the message. In essence what you are verifying is that a message comes from a specific public address.

The Short Version How To Sign/Verify

How To Sign

On Ledger Nano S (Please leave a comment down below explaining how to do this in other wallets.
  • Step 1. Open your Ledger Nano S
  • Step 2. Send a transaction note the you want to claim. The public address that is.
  • Step 3. Open settings and then tools. Then select the sign message option.
  • Step 4. Here enter your message and select the address to sign (for DigiRanks enter your reddit user name).
  • Step 5. Done! Copy and paste the signature with the message and send to the recipient. This person should then be able to check that you in fact did that transaction.

How to Verify

https://digiexplorer.info/messages/verify
  • Step 2. Paste the address you want to verify.
  • Step 3. Paste the signature. Make sure to remove quotations and the period at the end of the signature.
  • Step 4. Paste the message.
  • Step 5. Click verify and you're done, if the person does in fact own the transaction they claim then it should verify with no problems.
  • Edit - I might put this post out again but on Medium so I can add images. Also I'll start writing there have a more professional outlet.
  • Edit - My explanation is not 100% accurate and somewhat difficult to understand I'll be editing the post shortly.

Another week, another Mycelium feature description. This time one of our newest features: Message Signing!

Message Signing
First, make sure that Expert Mode is enabled in Advanced Settings.
Swipe to the left for a list of your addresses, select the address you wish to sign with, which will change the top bar to blue, click the dropdown menu, and select Sign Message.
Type in the message you wish to sign, and press the Sign Message button.
Your text will be signed, and you will get two options, Copy Signature to Clipboard and Share Text + Signature
The first option copies just the signature into your clipboard. You can use this if you just need to submit the signature by itself to a text challenge screen, such as to register on #bitcoin-otc channel.
The second option will share the text, address, and signature all bundled together in a format similar to PGP. For instance, in the example above, the shared result will look like this:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hello world! -----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNATURE----- Version: Bitcoin-qt (1.0) Address: 1Rassahgt3XSxKVJ62oSrQJxtH3wk4MKX
G50n39XFHXTYb4NRlzORTiKmsznIidz/s1gFZpXi8w/vEYapVLYbiTFloObeWHcslRedioAXVHB6Ckihs/p4Nns= -----END BITCOIN SIGNATURE-----
As for updates, we have released version 1.1.10 this past week, which added the following features:
  • message signing (go to Keys tab)
  • Hebrew, French, Korean, Polish translation
  • canonical S-values in signatures.
  • improved handing of exchange rates
  • remove Mtgox
  • added Kraken, Bitpay, Coinbase
  • new high-res launcher icons
Our developers (Jan and Andreas) are still working hard on Local Trader. We plan on getting the Testnet version out by Wednesday of this week, just in time for the Bitcoin Conference in Austin, TX. I'll be there, so feel free to grab me for a demo. The thing we're working on now is push notifications for the trader, which will alert you when you have a pending or accepted trade even while Mycelium is not running. I know some of you have asked for notifications for when you receive payments (because it's always great to hear the Ka-Ching! of incoming money ;D), and this will be the first step towards implementing that. Or rather will make adding that feature much easier.

[uncensored-r/btc] Invested over $1m Into BCH

The following post by ethos_io is being replicated because some comments within the post(but not the post itself) have been openly removed.
The original post can be found(in censored form) at this link:
np.reddit.com/ btc/comments/7k8r51
The original post's content was as follows:
Hey /btc! I’m Shingo Lavine, CEO of Ethos.io and we have diversified a large portion of our portfolio into XMR and BCH.
I would cross post this over in /bitcoin, but I’m pretty sure it would get removed so here I am!
For the longest time, I was a follower over at /bitcoin. I was always skeptical of the “cult ideology” that seemed to live over there. Not much in the way of intellectual discussions mostly just memes about how expensive Bitcoin is, how great Segwit is and how “stupid those big block Bcash people are”.
What happened? While Bitcoin is decentralized, information around it is not. As Bitcoin grew in popularity, people unfamiliar with the markets began to flood into media, social and reddit channels with little-to-no background and no educational resources. It seems most people who are buying Bitcoin today are unfamiliar with how Bitcoin works - or even how to set up a Bitcoin wallet!
But you can’t really blame them - there was no one to guide them. To me this presents an opportunity that desperately needs to be filled. We are on the cusp of mass adoption, yet we still struggle with education, branding, ease of use and scalability.
For a little more color on this issue, I recommend watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYHFrf5ci_g&feature=youtu.be
Bitcoin still amazes me - even to this day. The incredible amount of forethought that went into it - there really just isn’t anything else like it. /btc represents the ideals, the ethos if you will, of Bitcoin living on.
At Ethos.io we are trying to tackle many of these issues. Education, ease of use and access are deeply important to our mission. We are trying to take all the positive pieces of cryptocurrency and tie it in with our brand and product ecosystem. Why is it that we hear about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies being connected to money laundering, drug dealing and other atrocities rather than financial empowerment or financial access to the unbanked? We in the crypto community are not telling our own story effectively enough, if we truly believe in the founding ideals of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. At Ethos we want to be a part of fixing that.
We are building a set of services to broadly accelerate adoption of blockchain technology. One thing that is core to what we are doing is a wallet where YOU control the private keys, but also is easy enough for your grandparents to use. We are also building a fiat gateway with a unique legal model to offer additional options in as many OECD jurisdictions as possible (U.S., EU, Japan, Korea, Singapore etc.). Support for BCH in both our wallet and the fiat gateway will be important to us.
The Ethos platform will also be a place for people to learn about crypto more broadly. I think it is extremely important for people to be educated on the truth about many things in this industry. People should understand why BCH isn’t just a “Bitcoin clone” and why XMR is the ONLY truly private currency. Yup, the only one.

[uncensored-r/Bitcoin] How I lost 95 Bitcoin

The following post by 56KbKid is being replicated because some comments within the post(but not the post itself) have been silently removed.
The original post can be found(in censored form) at this link:

The original post's content was as follows:

This was posted on pastebin today:
"What I'm going to present is better evidence of who I am than access to mere private keys (which can be stolen). And it's definitely more convincing than what was ever offered by CSW.
The point here is to demonstrate superior understanding of Bitcoin encryption. I will manipulate the first and last digit of a hash (md6-256) that's not native to Bitcoin, to produce a vanity address ON BITCOIN that coincides with the signed statement.
The original hash, before being manipulated, will be derived from " v0.1 ", the first version of Bitcoin.
To recognize the significance of this, you will need to bring your attention to the similarities in the two hashes.
"v0.1" was the first version of Bitcoin. It was hashed in md6-256 which is not sha-256. Slightly modified it exposes a hidden vanity address that starts out with "1MyFun".

Bitcoin v0.1 Alpha Release " v0.1" (md6-256)

4C04E262DCAF32C396EC666AAD9A53D97464572E71C0748EA29205B41ACC2566

The odds of anyone being able to manipulate the first and last digits of any hash relating to the first version of Bitcoin to reveal a hidden vanity address are about 10 trillion to 1.
Not accepting this as undeniable proof means you don't understand the statistical probability ratios involved with knowing where to look and what to change.
Greedy and uneducated people are only interested in ‘where the money is’ (access to keys) instead of real cryptographic evidence.
NOTE: Do not attempt to add these private keys to your wallet. PS: I live in Bali, Indonesia."

Hello /Bitcoin:
So, long story short, there is a pretty incredible mystery going on at the University of Tennessee regarding the head coach of the football team. There's a lot of conversation on internet forums about who will be the next coach, as we look towards firing our current coach.
On one of the main sites, there have been 30 threads, with around 7-8,000 posts each regarding this mystery. Its a crazy story that involves secret societies, billionaire boosters, California VC funds, MIT behavioral sciences, and more.
One of the more cryptic and fascinating contributors recently posted the following message. I am hoping someone here can provide some context regarding this message, what it means, and what purpose someone would have to post it.
Thanks in advance!

How i lost my 10 btc

Please help! My real bitcointalk account Locked. :'( :'(
I bought my first few Bitcoins in 2012; eventually I got around 100 and managed to hold most of them until this point. Yesterday they were stolen from me. Shortly after I made a transaction, I left my PC with Blockchain open, I believe there was a mail from coinbase to me. When I returned an hour later, I saw my account had been emptied.

This happened shortly after receiving my hardware wallet (ledger), which I never got round to filling up. Obviously storing £350k(that hurts to type) on my daily computer was a moronic thing to do.

To see how hacked my wallet in the screenshot below: https://imgur.com/gallery/ayoj6s if image linked from imgur isn't working at the moment. https://mega.nz/#!7VhhBQ5B!q3ONiSnTVn38EIOlfjIaI0itWckJM-2AUeruexgXS7U
